Code of Conduct

The South Pine Touch Association (SPTA) Code of Conduct relates to the principles of fairness, respect, responsibility and safety. This Code aims to ensure our core values, good reputation and positive behaviours and attitudes are maintained and that everyone involved in our sport is aware of his or her legal and ethical rights and responsibilities.

Attendance at the association's facilities and participation in the association's competition/s or events implies acceptance of this Code of Conduct and is a condition for continued engagement with the association.

This Code of Conduct has been endorsed by the SPTA committee and all participants in the South Pine Touch competition must comply with the following:

The Core Code

  1. Abide by all rules and policies as determined by the South Pine Touch Association committee
  2. Recognise the contribution that people make to sport, particularly committee members, officials, volunteers and administrative staff, treating them with dignity and consideration at all times
  3. Respect the decisions of officials, coaches and administrators in the conduct of our sport 
  4. Abide by the rules and the spirit of the sport promoting 'Fair Play over Winning at Any Cost'. Acknowledge good plays by your team and also by your opponents.
  5. Never talk back or argue with officials or referees decisions. Let your captain or coach ask any necessary questions.
  6. Act with integrity and objectivity, and accept responsibility for your decisions and actions
  7. Display control and courtesy to all involved with the sport
  8. Respect the rights and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
  9. Ensure your decisions and actions contribute to a safe, harassment free environment
  10. Cooperate with your coach, team mates, opponents and committee members.
  11. Inform your captain, the game official and the South Pine Touch Association committee of any personal injury or medical conditions
  12. Behave and dress in a dignified manner when representing South Pine Touch, both on and off the field.
  13. Acknowledge South Pine Touch, other touch organisations and it sponsors, as opportunities arise.
  14. Comply with South Pine Touch Association and QLD Sports Council's Anti-Doping policy.
  15. Neither posses nor use prohibited substances, nor participate in or condone any other practice prohibited by the South Pine Touch committee.
  16. Encouraging healthy and safe procedures, preventing and reporting dangerous behaviour. Do not tolerate harmful or abusive behaviour - intentional physical contact is not permitted by the Laws of the game, nor fighting with a player, game referee, spectator or South Pine Touch official.
  17. Avoid any action deemed, in the ultimate discretion of the game referee or South Pine Touch committee members, to bring the game into disrepute
  18. Remember the goals of the game are to have fun, improve your skills, feel good and enjoy yourself

    Players Code
  19. Play for the fun and enjoyment of sport, not just to please others. (eg: your parents and coaches)
  20. Exhibit exemplary sportsmanship at all times 
  21. Control your temper, no mouthing off, swearing, foul, abusive or derogatory language which includes comments or actions. South Pine has a zero tolerance policy to abuse
  22. Treat all players as you yourself would like to be treated. Do not interfere with, bully or take unfair advantage of any player on the basis of his/her religion, sexual orientation, disability, race, colour, national or ethnic origins
  23. Avoid excessively hard touches or overly aggressive game play. 

    Officials Code
  24. Place the safety and welfare of the players above all else
  25. Be consistent and impartial when making decisions
  26. Address unsporting behaviour and promote respect for all people
  27. A referee must at all times act, dress and behave in a manner befitting the expectations of South Pine Touch
  28. A referee should be seen to be fully supportive of fellow referees, both on and off field
  29. Avoid any situation which may lead to a conflict in interest

    Administrators Code
  30. Act honestly, in good faith and in the best interests of the sport as a whole
  31. Ensure that any information acquired or advantage gained from the position is not used improperly
  32. Conduct your responsibilities with due care, competence and diligence
  33. Do not allow prejudice, conflict of interest or bias to affect your objectivity 
  34. Observe the provisions of the constitution, policies and rules of association

    Parents & Spectators Code
  35. Encourage children to participate and have fun
  36. Provide a model of good sportsmanship for your child to copy
  37. Focus on the child’s effort and performance rather than winning or losing
  38. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition
  39. Never abuse or threaten players, officials, coaches, volunteers or spectators
  40. Show appreciation for volunteers, coaches, officials and administrators
  41. Respect the performances and efforts of all people
  42. Reject the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, coaches, officials or players

    Acceptance of this Code of Conduct is a condition for engagement with our association and 
    will be enforced by the committee and administration. Infringement of the Code will be dealt with under the association’s policies including the Discipline (Judiciary) policy and system.

    Players, officials, parents and spectators accept that, if found in breach of this code
     they may be banned from the association. Disciplinary action will be determined depending on the seriousness of the breach and in line with the association’s policies including the Discipline (Judiciary) policy and system.
